Cześć, Wiem że każde wojsko lubi pośpiewać wiec zamieszczam poniżej oryginalny tekst wojskowej piosenki armii konfederackiej. Autor słów nieznany, melodię każdy może usłyszeć na youtube jeśli wklika : 2nd south carolina string band.
"Southern Soldier"
I'll place my knapsack on my back My rifle on my shoulder I'll march away to the firing line And kill that Yankee soldier And kill that Yankee soldier I'll march away to the firing line And kill that Yankee soldier
I'll bid farewell to my wife and child Farewell to my aged mother And go and join in the bloody strife Till this cruel war is over Till this cruel war is over I'll go and join in the bloody strife Till this cruel war is over
If I am shot on the battlefield And I should not recover Oh, who will protect my wife and child And care for my aged mother And care for my aged mother Oh who will protect my wife and child And care for my aged mother
And if our Southern cause is lost And Southern rights denied us We'll be ground beneath the tyrant's heel For our demands of justice For our demands of justice We'll be ground beneath the tyrant's heel For our demands of justice
Before the South shall bow her head Before the tyrant harm us I'll give my all to the Southern cause And die in the Southern army And die in the Southern army I'll give my all to the Soutehrn cause And die in the Southern army
If I must die for my home and land My spirit will not falter Oh, here's my heart and here's my hand Upon my country's altar Upon my country's altar Oh, here's my heart and here's my hand Upon my country's altar
Then Heaven be with us in the strife Be with the Southern Soldier We'll drive the mercenary horde Beyond our Southern border Beyond our Southern border We'll drive the mercenary horde Beyond our Southern border
So I'll place my knapsack on my back My rifle on my shoulder I'll march away to the firing line And kill that Yankee soldier And kill that Yankee soldier I'll march away to the firing line And kill that Yankee soldier.
Prawda że ładne ?
Pozdrawiam

Popularność piosenki "DIXIE" (względnie "DIXIE'S LAND") Daniela D. Emmetta skłoniła generała Konfederacji - Alberta Pike'a ( 1809 - 1891) do napisania "bojowej" wersji tego nieoficjalnego hymnu nowo powstałego państwa. Oto ona:
"EVERYBODY'S DIXIE"
Southrons, hear your contry call you, Up, lest worse than death befall you! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Lo ! all the beacon - fires are lighted, Let all hearts be now united ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie !
Refren: Advance the flag of Dixie ! Hurrah ! Hurrah ! In Dixie's Land we take our stand, To live or die for Dixie ! To arms ! To arms ! And conquer peace for Dixie ! To arms ! To arms ! And conquer peace for Dixie !
Hear the Northern thunders mutter ! Northern flags in South wind flutter ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Send them back your fierce defiance ! Stamp upon the cursed alliance ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
Fear no danger ! Shun no labor ! Lift up rifle, pike and sabre ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Shoulder pressing close to shoulder, Let the odds make each heart bolder ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
How the South's great heart rejoices At your cannons ronging voices ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! For faith betrayed and pledges broken , Wrongs inflicted, insults spoken, To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
Strong as lions , swift as eagles , Back to their kennels hunt these beagles ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Cut the unequal bonds asunder ! Let them each other plunder, To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
Swear upon yours country's altar Never to submit or falter - - To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Till the spoilers are defeated , Till the Lord's work is completed ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
Halt not till our Federation Secures among earth' powers its station ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Then at peace and crowned with glory , Hear your children tell the story ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
If the loved ones weep in sadness , Victory soon shall bring them gladness ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Exultant pride soon vanish sorrow; Smiles chase tears away to - morrow ! To arms ! To arms ! To arms in Dixie ! Ref.
Gen.
Pozdrawiam

Dzisiaj prawdziwy hicior - piosenka nieocenionego Stephena Fostera "Old Folks at Home" z 1851 roku.
I tekst:
Old Folks at Home
Way down upon de Swanee ribber Far, far away, Dere's wha my heart is turning ebber, Dere's wha de old folks stay. All up and down de whole creation Sadly I roam, Still longing for de old plantation And for de old folks at home.
Chorus All de world am sad and dreary, Ebry where I roam, Oh! darkies how my heart grows weary, Far from de old folks at home.
All round de little farm I wandered When I was young, Den many happy days I squandered, Many de songs I sung. When I was playing wid my brudder Happy was I Oh! take me to my kind old mudder, Dere let me live and die.
Chorus
One little hut amond de bushes, One dat I love, Still sadly to my mem'ry rushes, No matter where I rove When will I see de bees a humming All round de comb? When will I hear de banjo tumming Down in my good old home?

Hej ! Dowodzący Niemco/Jankesami kapitan Nathaniel D. Lyon dał Frostowi ultimatum z żądaniem złożenia broni w ciągu 30 minut i Frost, będąc nieprzygotowanym do obrony skapitulował.
Kapitan Lyon - aby pognębić ducha mieskańców St. Louis i aby pokazać , kto tu rządzi - zarządził przeprowadzenie kolumny jeńców z Missouri State Militia ulicami miasta. Zwróćcie uwagę na określenie "Dutch" (Holendrzy) odnoszące się do Jankeso-Niemców i na złośliwe "Sauerkraut was not their feeding"
"INVASION OF CAMP JACKSON" (Joseph Leddy , ok. 1861)
It was on the Tenth of May , Kelly's men were all away, When the Dutch surrounded Camp Jackson; Lyon was there with Boernstein and Blair, to take our men from the happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS: Oh! Oh! Oh! Ah! Ah! Ah! - the time for our glory is a - coming. We yet will see the time, when all of us will shine, And drive the Hessians from our happy land of Canaan.
Lyon came into camp with such a pompous tramp, And said, "Frost, you'll have to surrender, One half hour I'll give, that is, if you want to live, To get out of this happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS
Our boys looked so nice and neet, when they formed upon the street, You could tell that Sauerkraut was not their feeding; Our men were straight and tall, the Dutch were tin and small And a disgrace to our happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS
The people gave three cheers for the handsome Volunteers, Which raised the Hessians' indignation; They fired upon our brothers, killing sisters, wifes and mothers! But we'll avenge them in the happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS
With Col. Kelly at our head, we will fight till we are dead, Wherever he goes we will sustain him; He has led us on again, to fight with might and main, To whip the Dutch from this happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS
T'was just three months that day, since the gloomy 10th of May, When Lyon once again has us surrounded; But we were fighting fo State Rights, and we proved it in the fight, For we shot him in this happy land of Canaan.
CHORUS

Wkrótce po 10. maja 1861 członkowie Milicji Stanu Missouri zostali zwolnieni z jankeskiej niewoli i część z nich pozostała lojalna wobec Unii , lecz większość (katoliccy Irlandczycy i ludność innych narodowości, sympatyzująca z Południem a rozwścieczona masakrą) przystąpiła do wojny po stronie Konfederacji (porządni ludzie). W sumie "The Invasion of Camp Jackson" zwana też "Camp Jackson Song" jest przykładem autentycznej twórczości wojennej.

Siedzę w pracy i nucę: I hates the yankee nation and eveything they do.....
GOOD OL' REBEL SOLDIER by Major Innes Randolph, C.S.A.
Oh, I'm a good old rebel, Now thats just what I am, And for this yankee nation, I do no give a damn. I'm glad I fought a ganner, I only wish we won. I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done.
I hates the yankee nation and eveything they do. I hates the declaration of independence, too. I hates the glorious union, just dripping with our blood. I hates the striped banner, and fitted all I could
I road with Robert E. Lee, For three years, thereabout. Got wounded in four places, And I starved at point lookout. I caught the Romatism Campin' in the snow. But I killed a chance of Yankees And I'd like to kill some more.
3 hundred thousand Yankees Is stiff in southern dust. We got 3 hundred thousand Before they conquered us They died of Southern Fever And southern steel and shot I wish there were 3 million Instead of what we got. I can't pick up my musket And fight 'um down no more But I ain't gonna love 'um Now that is certain sure And I don't want no pardon For what I was and am I won't be reconstruted And I do not give a damn
Oh, I'm a good old rebel, Now thats just what I am, And for this yankee nation, I do no give a damn. I'm glad I fought a ganner, I only wish we won. I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done. I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done.
Pozdrawiam

Nieoceniony bard Południa , Mr. Stephen Collins Foster pozostawił nam wspaniały Evergreen, pieśn "Hard Times Come Again No More". Pieśn ułożył i muzykę do niej skomponował w 1854r. , nawiązując do ciężkiej depresji gospodarczej lat 50tych XIX wieku. "Hard Times..." była niezwykle popularna w czasie Wojny Secesyjnej i to po obu stronach frontów. Wspaniała muzyka i piękne słowa. Oto ta pieśń z oryginalnymi słowami autora:
"Hard Times Come Again No More"
Let us pause in lifes pleasures and count its many tears, While we all sup sorrow with the poor; There's a song that will linger forever in our ears; Oh, Hard times come again no more.
Chorus: Tis the song , the sight of the weary, Hard Times, hard times come again no more Many days you have lingered around my cabin door Oh hard times come again no more.
While we seek myrth and beauty and music light and gay, There are frail forms fainting at the door; Though their voices are silent, their pleading looks will say Oh hard times come again no more
Chorus
There's a pale drooping maiden who toils her life away, With a worn heart whose better times are o'er, Thoug her voice would be merry, 'tis sighing all the day, Oh hard times come again no more.
Chorus
Tis a sigh that is wafted across the troubled wave, Tis a wail that is heard upon the shore Tis a dirge that is murmured around the lonely grave, Oh hard times come again no more.
Chorus
Tą piękną pieśń można usłyszeć w niezliczonych interpretacjach na Youtube. Mnie najbardziej podobało się wykonanie amerykańsko-irlandzkiej grupy Gael Force.

Chyba jedna z najpopularniejszych pieśni unii z czasów ACW.
,,The Battle Hymn of the Republic"
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord: He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on.
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps, They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps: His day is marching on.
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His day is marching on.
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel: "As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, Since God is marching on."
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Since God is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat: Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet! Our God is marching on.
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on.
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! While God is marching on.
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is Succour to the brave, So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave, Our God is marching on.
(Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

Dzisiaj skoczna piosenka Stephena Collinsa Fostera (słowa i muzyka) .

Zaczyn muzyczny:
Lirics: James Ryder Randall 1861
I The despot's heel is on thy shore, Maryland! His torch is at thy temple door, Maryland! Avenge the patriotic gore That flecked the streets of Baltimore, And be the battle queen of yore, Maryland! My Maryland!
II Hark to an exiled son's appeal, Maryland! My mother State! to thee I kneel, Maryland! For life and death, for woe and weal, Thy peerless chivalry reveal, And gird thy beauteous limbs with steel, Maryland! My Maryland!
III Thou wilt not cower in the dust, Maryland! Thy beaming sword shall never rust, Maryland! Remember Carroll's sacred trust, Remember Howard's warlike thrust,- And all thy slumberers with the just, Maryland! My Maryland!
IV Come! 'tis the red dawn of the day, Maryland! Come with thy panoplied array, Maryland! With Ringgold's spirit for the fray, With Watson's blood at Monterey, With fearless Lowe and dashing May, Maryland! My Maryland!
V Come! for thy shield is bright and strong, Maryland! Come! for thy dalliance does thee wrong, Maryland! Come to thine own anointed throng, Stalking with Liberty along, And chaunt thy dauntless slogan song, Maryland! My Maryland!
VI Dear Mother! burst the tyrant's chain, Maryland! Virginia should not call in vain, Maryland! She meets her sisters on the plain- "Sic semper!" 'tis the proud refrain That baffles minions back again, Maryland! Arise in majesty again, Maryland! My Maryland!
VII I see the blush upon thy cheek, Maryland! For thou wast ever bravely meek, Maryland! But lo! there surges forth a shriek, From hill to hill, from creek to creek- Potomac calls to Chesapeake, Maryland! My Maryland!
VIII Thou wilt not yield the Vandal toll, Maryland! Thou wilt not crook to his control, Maryland! Better the fire upon thee roll, Better the blade, the shot, the bowl, Than crucifixion of the soul, Maryland! My Maryland!
IX I hear the distant thunder-hum, Maryland! The Old Line's bugle, fife, and drum, Maryland! She is not dead, nor deaf, nor dumb- Huzza! she spurns the Northern scum! She breathes! she burns! she'll come! she'll come! Maryland! My Maryland!
